CommUnity Impact Opportunities

Animal Rehabilitation

You will visit one of the newer rehabilitation centers in the region, where injured animals are nursed back to health before being released back into the wild. You will discover one unique aspect of this center, its partnership educating underprivileged, orphaned, or physically and mentally challenged children, who are given the experience of nursing these animals back to health, which in turn does wonders for their own healing.

Preparing for South Africa

  • Children under 12 receive a new friend, Sameera, (means moonlight) who comes with a story book telling what her life is like in South Africa
  • The whole family will receive recipes, books and movies preparing them for their trip
  • We have organized safaris for children of all ages in Southern Africa. South Africa is particularly attractive to families traveling with young children. As a well-developed country with good roads, medical care and a wide range of accommodation options, we are able to support children of all ages in South Africa.
  • While it is possible to cater to all ages while on safari in Southern Africa, we feel the ideal age for children to experience safari begins at 7. At this age, children are able to understand and follow guide safety instructions and generally have the endurance to enjoy long game drives, longer international flights and are generally more adaptable. Many camps require children to be 8 or 9 in order to walk in the bush, and as we consider this to be a hugely enjoyable, exciting and valuable experience for children to have while in Southern Africa, this should be taken into consideration as well.
  • Generally speaking, summer months (June – August) are peak season. April and May are considered low season but game viewing is excellent making these months great value for safari in Southern Africa. Weather during the fall and winter months (November – January) can be very hot ahead of the rains. This is considered low season.
  • A visa is not required for this destination for a stay of up to 90 days.
