Family Meal

During this evening experience, your family will join a local host in their home for a shared meal around the family table.  You will learn about customs and traditions while exchanging ideas on family life and culture. These opportunities will be a shared meal, cooking lesson and/or market visit where available based upon the preference of the client.

3-Day Extension: Sevilla

Children 12 and under will enjoy a private tour of Doñana National Park Day Trip and a food tour of Sevilla and its history. Teens can participate in a private ebike tour of Sevilla with a guide and visit Bravo Bull farm on a private, guided tour. Adults can enjoy a Flamenco and tapas tour as well as a private White Villages day trip.

CommUnity Impact Opportunities

Olive Oil Experience in Barcelona

A journey outside of Barcelona for a truly unique and authentic experience.  Enjoy a short trip into the Catalonian countryside as today, you will be visiting a family oil mill that produces some of the best olive oils in the region.  You will learn about the different techniques used in the production of extra virgin olive oil. You will also help with the daily activities that are being performed on the farm during your visit, boosting the local economy and helping a real Spanish farming family!

Meet Local Artisans in Madrid

Madrid is nothing if not traditional. You can find centuries-old shops along its cobblestoned streets, many with the same families practicing their art for generations!  Children 12 and under will visit a straw grass shop, and a candle making shop. Teens will begin with a local jewelry maker and then learn from a bookbinder. All guests then have the opportunity to dine in a local restaurant that helps feed the homeless.

Preparing for Spain

  • Families with children under 12 traveling to Spain will receive a doll and storybook with cultural information about Spain to help prepare for the trip
  • The whole family will receive recipes, books and movies preparing them for their trip
  • Spain is wonderful for all ages
  • The best times of year to visit Spain is April – June and September – October when the weather is mild. Spain can be quite warm in the summer months.
  • Siestas are an important part of the Spanish culture and many shops, offices and restaurants close from 1-4pm. Plan to take advantage of this down time in the afternoon.
  • It is very common to eat dinner at 10pm or later in Spain, especially if you are trying to engage in Spanish culture
  • A visa is not required to visit Spain for less than 90 days
